Cars and Pollution

By: Abdulaziz Aldyaf

There is no doubt that cars are the most comfortable and convenient method of transportation. However, with the increasing numbers of cars in the cities nowadays, the problems associated with cars are not to be taken lightly. This matter has several factors behind it and it’s causing our communities health and safety issues. And we must take serious actions to contain it as soon as possible.
Major cities around the world are continuously expanding. With this expansion, the number of cars is growing continuously. This is putting our Health and safety under risk. Cars smokes’ are increasing the pollution percentages in major cities especially residential neighborhoods. They are not as safe as they used to be, where you can’t let your kids go outside to play without the risk of being hit by a car. Moreover, we are consuming scary amounts of our precious fuel.
That is why a series of actions must be taken to minimize the effect of this issue. To begin with, governments should mandate a toll for any car that enters city center to push people towards using public transportation  decrease the pollution percentages. Then use the collected funds to improve the public transportation’s infrastructure. In addition, cities should adopt green zones approach that mandate cars no to enter specific zones such as schools’ areas to provide these zones with clean breathing air. Furthermore, I believe that every one of us should take responsibility and try to use the public transportation as much as we can.

In conclusion, there are countless issues caused by the large number of cars used nowadays. And I believe that governments should start initiatives to decrease this risk in order to provide our communities with better living conditions.
